The following sub-pages provide a sampling of possible sources for maps and air photos to trace the evolution of both the PEI landscape, and cartography from the early 18th<\/sup> century to the mid 20th<\/sup> century.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suggested citation style for primary sources is based on the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th Edition<\/strong>, as suggested by the U.S. Library of Congress: https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/programs\/teachers\/getting-started-with-primary-sources\/citing\/chicago\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is by no means a comprehensive survey \u2013 for the evolution of PEI maps, Reg Porter\u2019s Prince Edward Island Heritage Blog provides a detailed overview of the progression of cartography, while UPEI\u2019s \u201cIsland Imagined\u201d website provides additional detailed lot maps.  Please see the References sections for more examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georeferenced versions of key maps and aerial photo surveys can be found on GeoPEI: The Prince Edward Island Historical Map Viewer<\/a><\/strong>, <\/em>a web application of the UPEI lab for <\/em>Geospatial Research in Atlantic Canadian History (GeoREACH Lab). <\/em>This reference will be updated as more are added to the service. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
