She conducted interviews and distributed a questionnaire to probe the reasons for this\u00a0disparity. One major reason emerged: many Inuit teachers feel uncomfortable calling the NTA\u00a0offices, visiting or asking questions in Inuktitut when the operating language is English. Meeka\u00a0likens this to Paulo Freire&#8217;s concept of \u201climit situations\u201d beyond which \u201cpeople cannot imagine\u00a0themselves.\u201d Meeka notes that since she began her research project, the NTA has changed \u201cto\u00a0reflect more of the cultural and linguistic situation in Nunavut.\u201d The NTA Newsletter, the collective\u00a0agreement and other documents are now published in both languages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why is there a lack of Inuit Educators Involvement\u00a0within Teachers Association?
