{"id":136,"date":"2021-11-05T11:52:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-05T14:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/articulations\/?p=136"},"modified":"2021-11-05T11:51:44","modified_gmt":"2021-11-05T14:51:44","slug":"faculty-news-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/articulations\/faculty-news-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Faculty News"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The International Medieval Conference at Leeds, UK, held a session in July in honour of our late colleague&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Catherine Innes-Parker&nbsp;<\/strong>(English). The session focused on one of the research areas Catherine was internationally known for, the Wooing Group and its Descendants. The session, held virtually, was followed by a social hour for her colleagues and friends from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe were so happy to have members of her family there, including her mother and two of her children. It was a wonderful indication of how much she was valued both for her scholarship and for her support for junior scholars.\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;<br>                                                                           <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Festschrift in her honour is also in preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On October 10,&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Shannon Murray<\/strong>&nbsp;(English) delivered the first in the International Federation of National Teaching Fellows seminar series with Lisa Dickson (UNBC) and Jessica Riddell (Bishop&#8217;s) on \u201cA Hopeful Pedagogy: Shakespearean Case Studies.&#8221; Murray, Riddell, and Dickson also delivered a workshop entitled &#8220;Critical Hope in the 21st Century Classroom&#8221; to the Maple League of Universities Faculty Development group in August.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Joshua MacFadyen&nbsp;<\/strong>(ACLC) has published a new article in&nbsp;<em>Histoire sociale ~ Social History<\/em>, (Fall 2021) in a Special Issue on &#8220;Agriculture, Food, and Fuel Markets in Canada, 1860s-1990s.&#8221; You can find his article,&nbsp;&#8220;These Well-Wooded Towns: Supplying Fuel Wood to Central Canadian Urban Markets, 1867-1921,&#8221; here:&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hssh.journals.yorku.ca\/index.php\/hssh\/article\/view\/41162\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/hssh.journals.yorku.ca\/index.php\/hssh\/article\/view\/41162<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UPEI is happy to announce the arrival of&nbsp;<strong>Dr. Margot Maddison-MacFadyen<\/strong>&nbsp;to the Faculty of Arts back in May.
