A solar eclipse occurs when the moon blocks some or all of our view of the sun.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The western part of PEI will experience a total solar eclipse (100% of sun blocked), while central and eastern locations will experience a significant partial solar eclipse (more than 98% of the sun\u2019s disk covered by the moon). The last time a total solar eclipse was visible from PEI was <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/astronomy\/historic-pei-solar-eclipses\/\">July 10, 1972<\/a>.
