The goal of this KS Speaker Series is to promote and provide invited special talks on highly important or engaging KS topics: philosophical, religious, historical, political, etc. for all UPEI students and professors including KS and Asian Studies people. To invite a world-class prominent scholar each year from a leading American and Canadian university (e.g., Harvard U, Columbia U., Yale U., Chicago, UCLA, Berkeley, UofT, UBC, etc.). The invited speaker’s airfare, honorarium (CA$1,000-$1,500), hotel accommodation, airport taxi, meals, etc. are fully supported.

Four KSISS talks were done: 2018-2020, and 2023, the KS project invited and fully funded:
- Dr. Don Baker (Professor of Korean Civilization and Religious History, Asian Studies, UBC), as special talk on modern Korean Buddhism in Oct. 2018
- Dr. Charles Armstrong (Professor of Korean History, KS and History Department, Columbia University, NY), who gave a special talk on South and North Korea and international relations, April 2019. See:
