Over the past 5 years, UPEI successfully hosted two major KS conferences at UPEI in late June 2018 and June 2023, and 13\u201318 prominent and promising scholars in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or History from USA, Canada, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and China participated in each of these conferences with \u00a05\u20136 panels for two days. With the support of Dr. Chung\u2019s KS international project grants (2018\u20132021 and 2022\u201325; thanks to one-third of CA$1M for each project funded by Korean Studies Promotion Service, the AKS, Korea), Dr. Chung organized each conference and UPEI\u2019s KS project hosted and funded each conference. A very successful event at UPEI; the first of its kind ever.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For both conferences in 2018 and 2023, we thank again the opening keynote speach by Dr. Robert E. Buswell Jr., Distinguished Research Professor (formerly Irving and Jean Stone Endowed Chair in Humanities at UCLA, Distinguished Professor of Buddhist Studies), and Founding Director, the Centre for Buddhist Studies and the Centre for Korean Studies, UCLA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
