{"id":55,"date":"2024-09-23T14:04:48","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T17:04:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/cks\/?page_id=55"},"modified":"2024-10-01T15:03:48","modified_gmt":"2024-10-01T18:03:48","slug":"ks-asian-studies-student-benefits-activities-and-events","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/cks\/student-initiatives\/ks-asian-studies-student-benefits-activities-and-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Benefits &amp; Opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Thanks to our KS Seed Program projects (funded by KSPS, the AKS, Korean Ministry of Education),&nbsp; UPEI\u2019s KS and Asian Studies Programs are also offering several popular student-centered programs and opportunities the academic year of 2024\u20132025 as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>KS <em>Student<\/em> \uc7a5\ud559\uae08 <em>Scholarship<\/em><\/strong><br>Three awards given annually: $1,000-$1,200 each. <br>Three outstanding students (incl. at least one international student) who have completed two or more KS courses will be selected and awarded in June 2025. Selection criteria are overall excellent grades, class participation and interest in and contribution to Korean and Asian Studies. No formal application is required. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 28%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Student Assistantship<\/strong><br>We are continuously hiring and mentoring UPEI students as program or research\/teaching assistants. For example, George Jiang (an international student) has been hired and mentored since Sept. 2022 to assist the Director&#8217;s administrative and research work and KS project&#8217;s activities and events. 10 months each year and 2-4 hours weekly at the rate of UPEI&#8217;s HR student wage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"373\" height=\"147\" src=\"http:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/cks\/files\/2024\/09\/UPEI_Logo.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-56 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/cks\/files\/2024\/09\/UPEI_Logo.png 373w, https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/cks\/files\/2024\/09\/UPEI_Logo-300x118.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 373px) 100vw, 373px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Student Workshops:<\/em><\/strong><br>Special student orientation sessions on AST and KS program, annual course offering, scholarship, courses, and activities. Done each year and five times since Feb. 2018 in class rooms or the UPEI Faculty Lounge (Main building) with refreshments. This year (2024\u201325), we plan to do one workshop in Oct. 2024 or more likely in Jan. 2025.
