{"id":2094,"date":"2017-09-28T14:13:50","date_gmt":"2017-09-28T14:13:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/climate\/?p=2094"},"modified":"2017-12-07T13:00:18","modified_gmt":"2017-12-07T13:00:18","slug":"pei-climate-change-adaptation-strategy-public-consultation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/climate\/2017\/09\/28\/pei-climate-change-adaptation-strategy-public-consultation\/","title":{"rendered":"PEI Climate Change Adaptation Strategy: Public Consultation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UPEI Climate Lab is developing the <em>Prince Edward Island<\/em> <em>Climate Change Adaptation Recommendations Report<\/em> for the Government of Prince Edward Island.\u00a0 We are seeking public input to help us develop relevant, practical, and innovative recommendations for climate change adaptation.\u00a0 Climate change adaptation refers to the ways in which we can take advantage of the opportunities arising from climate change, as well as reduce the negative impacts from climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The recommendations included in this draft report were developed in four stages.\u00a0 First, the public and sector stakeholders were consulted on their concerns regarding climate change and adaptation.\u00a0 Second, adaptation approaches used in other jurisdictions regionally, nationally and internationally were reviewed to prepare a discussion document for each sector.\u00a0 Third, roundtable discussions with stakeholders for each sector were held to review the relevance and practicality of the approaches in the discussion document for the Island and to suggest additional recommendations. \u00a0Last, the sectors\u2019 input was incorporated in the discussion documents, which form the sector chapters of this draft report.<\/p>\n<p>We are hosting a final round of public consultations next month.\u00a0 They are open to everyone \u2013 individuals, businesses, organizations, etc.\u00a0 You can provide feedback online until Friday October 20, 2017 and in person at one of the following public engagement sessions:\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>Charlottetown<\/u><\/strong>: Tuesday, October 17, 5 to 6 pm at UPEI, Andrew Hall building, Room 142 (please use parking lot A or B)<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>Summerside<\/u><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong> Wednesday, October 18, 7 to 8 pm at the Summerside Community Church<\/li>\n<li><strong><u>Montague<\/u><\/strong>: Thursday, October 19, 7 to 8 pm, Riverhouse Inn<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Refreshments will be provided.\u00a0 Please register by emailing us at <a href=\"mailto:climate@upei.ca\">climate@upei.ca<\/a> with the session you would like to attend.\u00a0 If you are unable to attend the sessions and would like to provide feedback in person, please let us know by email.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to receiving your input and recommendations.\u00a0 The feedback collected from all public and sector consultations will be reviewed and incorporated in the final report, which will be submitted to the Provincial Government by October 31, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Click <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.princeedwardisland.ca\/en\/service\/climate-change-adaptation-strategy-public-consultation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a><\/strong> to access the reports and to provide online feedback.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UPEI Climate Lab is developing the Prince Edward Island Climate Change Adaptation Recommendations Report for the Government of Prince Edward Island.\u00a0 We are seeking public input to help us develop relevant, practical, and innovative recommendations for climate change adaptation.\u00a0 &hellip;
