{"id":354,"date":"2022-09-17T14:04:18","date_gmt":"2022-09-17T17:04:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/engsuccess\/?p=354"},"modified":"2022-09-20T09:35:08","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T12:35:08","slug":"install-windows-10-on-macos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/engsuccess\/2022\/09\/17\/install-windows-10-on-macos\/","title":{"rendered":"Install Windows 10 on macOS for SolidWorks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This guide is part 1 of 2 on How To Setup Solidworks using an Apple Macbook device, intended for setting up Windows 10 on macOS <strong>using free built-in Boot Camp application<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accompanying Video can be found here: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/VoPKwVB3-cs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/VoPKwVB3-cs<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>To find out whether the mac is supported (Mac using Intel chip only), on the drop-off top bar:<ul><li>Apple menu &gt; About This Mac, then in Overview tab click System Report<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Prepare hardware + software components<ul><li>USB Mouse + Keyboard<\/li><li>Windows 10 installation image (extension <em>ISO<\/em>)<\/li><li>eduroam CAT installation executable (extension <em>exe<\/em>)<\/li><li>Make sure macOS have at least 50GB available, similar to Step 1 then Storage ta<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>In Boot Camp Assisstant, select <em>Install Windows 10<\/em> option<ul><li>if not automatically selected, select Windows installation image from folder<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Drag left-right to adjust the size for the new partition, recommended 50GB<\/li><li>Start the automatic process, provide user password when prompted<\/li><li>Once completed, macOS will automatically reboot into Windows 10 installation process<\/li><li>In Window installation setup screen, choose Language, Time, and Keyboard to start<\/li><li>In Activation screen, choose <em>I don&#8217;t have a product key<\/em> option<\/li><li>In OS version screen, choose <em>Windows 10 Pro<\/em><\/li><li>Accept the terms<\/li><li>(Important!) Select the correct drive newly created by Boot Camp Assistant<ul><li>Drive Name: <em>BOOTCAMP<\/em><\/li><li>Size: <em>50GB<\/em> approximately what selected in Step 4<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Once completed, Windows installation reboot into Windows 10 startup screen<\/li><li>In Region &amp; Keyboard screen, select similar to Step 7<\/li><li>In Network screen, select <em>I don&#8217;t have Internet<\/em> option<\/li><li>In Account screen, type in the User Name &amp; answer Security questions<\/li><li>In Privacy screen, select personalization settings as wanted<\/li><li>Once Windows 10 installation complete, Boot Camp drivers installation prompt will pop up<\/li><li>Once driver installed, Window will reboot again<\/li><li>Confirm all peripheral devices (keyboard, trackpad, touchbar) working<\/li><li>Select booting OS using <em>Startup Disk<\/em> utility on macOS or <em>Boot Camp<\/em> on Windows 10<ul><li>Alternatively, when powered off hold Alt\/Option (\u2325) then push power button until <em>Drive Selection Mode<\/em> showing<\/li><li>Then, select <em>Macintosh<\/em> for macOS and <em>Windows<\/em> for Windows<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This guide is part 1 of 2 on How To Setup Solidworks using an Apple Macbook device, intended for setting up Windows 10 on macOS using free built-in Boot Camp application.
