Once Again<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a life full of change, the ocean has been a constant.
\nA constant source of healing, of freedom, of home.<\/p>\n

A lifetime full of memories,
\nOf arriving at her doorstep, suitcase full of worries, to- dos and things left unsaid.
\nI would linger there at her door step,
\nWalk awhile, sit awhile, look awhile.
\nOut at her vastness,
\nFrom the edge.
\nDrinking her in.
\nAnticipation building for the moment she will drink me in.
\nHeart beat quickens ever so slightly.
\nOnly a few steps and you can leave this world and enter another.
\nIf the time is right, I make my way from the edge into her full embrace.
\nWithin seconds I am filled with relief, release and then joy. Even laughter.
\nAs two thirty-somethings become ten again.
\nJumping, rolling, diving, giggling.<\/p>\n

I often return to the edge.
\nThe edge of the sounds, the smell, the roll.
\nThe edge of that familiar embrace.
\nIt doesn\u2019t just feel like a breath of fresh air,
\nIt summons the breath, one after the other.
\nBreathing in her soothing strength and power.
\nWashing away my weakness and insecurities.
\nOnce again.<\/p>\n

All these memories of being washed clean – emotionally, spiritually –
\nEvoke feelings so deep they feel they may be my ancestors\u2019.
\nEven when I drive by and for one moment take in her vastness,
\nFrom that edge, I am transported.
\nThe reflexive deep breath,
\nLike the kick of the leg from a tap on the knee,
\nIn that reflex, that breath, I am washed clean.
\nOnce again.
\nHer eternal promise,
\nFor me.<\/p>\n
