The digitized archives – of maps and newspapers – make Island history accessible to my American students, while I’ve used them for years to research the environmental history of the Island. “I have studied Prince Edward Island history for the past few years, first as an undergraduate History Honours student and now as part of my Master of Arts in Island Studies degree. Over this time, Robertson Library\u2019s Prince Edward Island Collection has been indispensable. Through the Prince Edward Island Collection\u2019s in-person and digital resources, I have accessed government documents, published materials (including community histories), and Island newspapers\u2014all of which have been central building blocks of historical arguments that I have made in my scholarly work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many pieces of the Island\u2019s documentary history are rare, so the Prince Edward Island Collection fulfills a vital role in collecting, preserving, and making available these resources for scholars of the Island. I wholeheartedly support any initiative to give the Prince Edward Island Collection more capacity to support research into the Island\u2019s history.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Working in close collaboration with our subject librarian, Ms. Kim Mears, we have integrated information literacy across our undergraduate and graduate programs. This curriculum is invaluable to the development of student nurses who can critically find, appraise, and integrate evidence for clinical practice. The Information Literacy curriculum developed between the Robertson Library and Faculty of Nursing is an essential skill in the preparation of future RNs who must continually seek current evidence and use this to inform clinical practice decisions and interventions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through research collaborations, VRE’s, and the Island Scholar repository, the Robertson Library plays a vital role in supporting Nursing faculty and graduate students in the development and dissemination of research and scholarly activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Robertson Library is invaluable to the Faculty of Nursing. The nursing-specific collections are utilized by our students and faculty on a weekly, if not daily basis.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Being out-of-province for my first year due to COVID-19, it wasn’t until my second year and beyond that I was really able to use the library and its resources. However, I would fully recommend that any UPEI student use the library whenever they can. I’ve used a variety of resources; when I need a quiet place to study, the Library’s study spaces have been a reliable location to get work done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an English major I write a lot of essays, many of which require research. Thankfully, Robertson Library’s catalog is easy to navigate, meaning that I am able to find physical books with ease, as well as digital books and research essays on the online catalog. Being able to borrow light therapy lamps from the library was also incredibly helpful for managing my mental health during the winter months. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although I know I have still only used a fraction of the resources available to me, I have found each one that I’ve used incredibly helpful and would recommend using the library to any student who may be interested.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Robertson Library at UPEI has been and continues to be a resource I rely heavily on in my studies. It is a space I can go to when I need to get work done, and it is also a massive source of academic materials I would otherwise never have access to. The online database at Robertson Library is a resource I use for almost every class. I know academic materials are very expensive, and knowing that the Robertson Library can give me access to a massive selection of free digital articles, books, and even movies that I can use for my projects makes my life as a student much less stressful. If I ever find myself in need of a resource, I can almost always find what I need at Robertson Library, and if ever I can’t, the Library workers can always lend a helping hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection of both physical and digital resources the Library has currently is great, but to see the Robertson Library be able to expand the selection it has and the resources it can provide would be a massive help to myself and to the many other students I know rely on it to facilitate their research.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
