Of Health PEI), Ebo Budu-Amoako (BioFoodTech) &amp; Karen Shapiro (University of California Davis).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-134\" src=\"http:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/sgreenwood\/files\/2018\/02\/Giardia-Oyster-Crypto.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"505\" height=\"166\" srcset=\"https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/sgreenwood\/files\/2018\/02\/Giardia-Oyster-Crypto.jpg 505w, https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/sgreenwood\/files\/2018\/02\/Giardia-Oyster-Crypto-300x99.jpg 300w, https:\/\/projects.upei.ca\/sgreenwood\/files\/2018\/02\/Giardia-Oyster-Crypto-500x164.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 505px) 100vw, 505px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Crustacean Research:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Host-Pathogen-Environment Interactions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exploring the genetic variation that exists within crustacean pathogens (<em>Anophryoides haemophila<\/em>, <em>Neoparamoeba pemaquidensis<\/em>,<em> Aerococcus viridans<\/em> var. <em>homari<\/em>, <em>Hematodinium<\/em> spp. and White Spot Syndrome Virus) to gain insight into the temporal, spatial and geographic relationships they have with their economically important crustacean hosts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2) Lobster Genomics -Transcriptomics<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Genomics:<\/strong> Collaboration with Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute, Dovetail Genomics and Tufts University towards whole genome sequencing of the American lobster,<em> Homarus americanus<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transcriptomics: <\/strong>Gene expression changes in lobsters using our <em>Homars americanus<\/em> oligonucleotide-microarray and RNASeq to explore aspects of the lobster\u2019s biology that may be used as indicators of quality and health.\n<ul>\n<li>i) Immune response to pathogens<br \/>\n&#8211; <em>Aerococcus viridans<\/em>, <em>Anophryoides haemophila<\/em>\u00a0 &amp; White Spot Syndrome Virus<br \/>\nii) Reproductive cycles in female lobsters<br \/>\niii) Development &amp; Moult cycle in larval lobsters<br \/>\niv) Toxicological impact of agricultural pesticides on larval lobster metamorphosis.<br \/>\nv) Lobster moult recovery<br \/>\nvi) Lobster stress in holding &amp; shipping<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Molecular Parasitology: 1) Trichomoniasis in wild &amp; domestic birds in Atlantic Canada Collaboration with Drs.
