Dr. Doug Sobey<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environmental biologist and ecologist

Born and raised in Summerside, Dr. Doug Sobey is retired from Ulster University<\/a>, where he spent his teaching career specializing in environmental biology and ecology. Since 1992, Sobey has been researching the present forests of P.E.I. and their past history through early survey records and maps. He is the co-author of Samuel Holland: His Work and Legacy<\/a><\/em>, published by Island Studies Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, Dr. Sobey was awarded the Community Museums Association of P.E.I. (CMAPEI) annual Award of Merit for his work with the Bedeque Historical Society. Learn more<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020, Dr. Sobey was presented with the prestigious Award of Honourfor his lifetime of work studying and sharing Prince Edward Island\u2019s natural and human heritage. For decades, Sobey has been studying the forests of Prince Edward Island and publishing his work in journals, government publications, and local magazines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
