Current Projects

CAP School Visits: The CAP team will be visiting grade 7 classes across Prince Edward Island in the 2018-2019 school year.  The goal of the project is to raise awareness and provide useful information on head injuries to students and teachers.

Concussion Knowledge Retention Among Students on PEI Study: This study plans to use pre and post knowledge assessments in classrooms across Prince Edward Island to assess general concussion knowledge in youth, as well as the efficacy of classroom presentations for retaining information on head injury awareness and information. The findings will help in the creation of future concussion curriculum and presentations, as well as analyzing the need for head injury information in youth on PEI.

Efficacy of Baseline Concussion Testing in Youth Study: Research has shown that concussion baseline tests are reliable through several years for university-aged participants. However, because youth are still developing physically and mentally, it is expected that their results will be less reliable. This study plans to explore at what age concussion baseline testing becomes more reliable by testing youth in grades 4-12.
