Member Events

Regularly Scheduled Events

There are three main events planned each year; namely

  1. Annual General Meeting (AGM)  is the members business meeting occurring in November of each year.  The President reports on yearly activities, the Treasurer presents a financial statement for the fiscal year, new business and/or topical issues are discussed, retirees who passed away during the year are remembered, donations are made to the Campus Food Bank and elections are held for vacant Executive positions. In recent years, the business meeting is shortened and a speaker is invited. AGM2023 Minutes
  2. A University Event (typically) occurs during the February winter break at the University. This provides retirees with an opportunity to receive updates on University programs/plans or on an issue of concern. With Canada Winter Games at the University, the 2023 event was moved to spring with a tour of the “Canada Games Legacy” (residence and conference) facilities along with updates on UPEI email services and retiree benefits.  For the 2024 event RCMP Corporal Gavin Moore spoke on “Online Scams: Seniors Be Vigilant”, SpringEvent2024
  3. Spring Luncheon is a social event, usually held mid June. In 2017, this event was named, the “Annual Ferne and Murray Stevenson Spring Social” in honour of their hosting a barbeque event for many years at their cottage in Stanhope. A social luncheon for June 2024 at the University invited Dr Preston Smith, Dean, Faculty of Medicine to speak.  View more details 2024JuneLuncheonFlyer

Ad hoc Events

During the year, other events (e.g. Coffee & Conversation) may take place.

Beginning in 2018 our Association donates money to the Campus Food Bank and volunteers during a Student Soup Luncheon at the Chaplaincy Centre.  Members can volunteer to help with the  “Soup for the Soul” luncheons and for the December/April student chili luncheons .
