Project Introduction: Our project was to investigate the premature bearing failure of a booster pump at Natures Crops which was a part of their vacuum skid in their process. In the pump specifications it indicates that this pump should last around 3 years without required maintenance but has been failing every 1.5 years creating more work and shutdowns for the vacuum skid. The team conducted system sizing and design analysis throughout the project to assess the issue and developed a system that can be implemented to detect when the bearing is beginning to fail to save cost on pump maintenance.
