Fairouz Gaballa is third-year student pursuing a BA in Psychology at UPEI.  She is preparing to complete her Honour’s in Psychology during her fourth year.  Her current research interests include the impact of trauma on child- and adulthood, Rogers’s Humanist perspectives as it relates to mental health and self-image, and the relationships between sports and mental health. She hopes to integrate aspects of these areas into her Honour’s thesis.

Fairouz is originally from Cairo, Egypt, and she immigrated to PEI in 2011.  At UPEI, Fairouz is part of the Cross-Country team; a tutor with the Writing Centre; a volunteer editor with the UPEI Arts Review; and has previously worked as a managing editor with The Cadre.  Recently she has taken over Perfect Strangers PEI which is a community arts-based project that focuses on sharing people’s stories. Fairouz also dedicates her time to create art, which includes anything from oil paintings to digital animations. Fairouz is an undergraduate research assistant with the Intercultural Inquiry in Psychology Lab.
