Joelle Murphy graduated with a B.A. Psychology Honours Program at UPEI. Her honours thesis involved conducting the mindfulness and strengths-based resource protocol, the Tree of Life protocol, while also incorporating elements of EMDR therapy. Her thesis examined if the Tree of Life protocol could reduce academic stress while increasing the vividness of positive memories and positive self-schemas through bilateral stimulation. She also has experience as a research assistant on a geriatric study focusing on the impact of music on age and cognition. Joelle has been actively involved in community based activities through her involvement with Big Brother Big Sisters; she was an in-school mentor for students who were undergoing life difficulties. Her interests surround improving the well-being of individuals by creating strategies that can help people overcome mental health issues. Joelle is currently employed by Veterans Affairs Canada.
