ACLC Weekly Roundup (March 4th – 8th)

Hi ACLC students!

Welcome to another weekly update on ACLC and ACLC-related happenings.

1) Advanced Public Speaking with Bruce Rainnie

This Public Speaking workshop will include all new public speaking content and tips from Bruce. The workshop will on Friday, March 15, 1pm to 4pm, in K. C. Irving Chemistry Centre, rm. 104. Register here by this Friday, March 8. Reach out to Phoebe (pbmurphy@upei.ca) or me for more details.

2) ACLC stories. ACLC student, Katie Clark (keclark2@upei.ca), is collecting your stories about your ACLC experience (see her message below). These stories will appear on social media and other ACLC promotional materials to help get the word out about ACLC. This is an opportunity to be an ACLC spokesperson. Get in touch with Katie to find out more.

Hello All,

I like to believe the ACLC program helps students find their voice. There is a project I luckily have been given the opportunity to pursue, and the project is about you.

With your permission and interest, we are collecting stories to showcase the diverse range of students within the ACLC program.

If you hold any interest in participating in this project, my email is keclark2@upei.ca.

The time commitment to the project will be less than 1 hour. Give me a shout, and I’ll provide you with all the details!

Thank you,

Katie Clark.

3) The International Community Challenge, Faroe Islands, May 15-22

See the attached poster for more information about this fully funded experience. They’re looking for communication students–that’s you! Reach out to Sherilyn Acorn-LeClair (sdacorn@upei.ca) with questions.

4) The Thunder Cove Breast Cancer Award deadline has been extended to Monday, March 18 2019.

The award is valued at $2,000, and is for “an undergraduate or graduate student who has an expressed interest in pursuing a project directly related to the care, prevention and/or cure of breast cancer.”  The student can be in any faculty or program, and the project can be academic or community based.  Please share with any prospective students, and don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions. Contact is Adrienne Montgomery <amontgomery@upei.ca>.

5) ACLC online. Join the ACLC student Facebook group and check out the ACLC student website.

6) There will be an ACLC social soon! Stay tuned.

7) Feel free to share news and events with me (kscarth@upei.ca) that could be of interest to ACLC students. Phoebe Murphy (pbmurphy@upei.ca) and Abi Ong (ojen@upei.ca) are the student reps in charge of events so feel free to reach out to them too.
