Tips for not being “that annoying person” at the gym
Be mindful of your surroundings and always be alert
During busy hours, gyms can become crowded quickly and it’s best to take a quick look around you before starting an exercise to ensure the safety of yourself and others
Keep equipment where it belongs
Refrain from moving larger pieces of equipment, such as benches, away from their designated area
If you do need to move them, make sure you put it back in its rightful place
Avoid talking on the phone while at the gym
If you happen to receive a call, please step outside of the gym and talk in the hallway out of respect for other gym users
DON’T HOG THE EQUIPMENT!!
If you’re occupying a popular piece of equipment at a busy time of day, don’t sit on your phone, oblivious to others who are waiting for that machine
If using dumbbells, take the weights you want and step away from the rack so you are not blocking others from accessing it
Be mindful of personal space
If someone is doing an exercise, don’t walk right beside them, but rather take a wider path when walking past them
This will prevent an injury to you and others, while also respecting personal space
DON’T DROP WEIGHTS!!
After finishing a set, please gently set your weights down
Nobody thinks its cool to drop weights… nobody
You might even injure someone else if the weight rolls or bounces after being dropped
