Atlantic Canada Studies 2026 UPEI

The UPEI Faculty of Arts and Canada Research Chair in Geospatial Humanities are pleased to welcome the Atlantic Canada Studies 2026 Conference to Charlottetown, from 2-5 June, 2026. The conference overlaps with the Canadian Historical Association (CHA) and the Canadian Catholic History Association meetings.

Registration

To register for ACS and to find information on accommodation and travel please visit the CHA Annual Meeting website. Note, no memberships are required to attend ACS. For those attending ACS sessions only, in the membership status section simply select “I am attending as an ACS or CCHA member.”

Early bird registration rates ended 17 April. Online registration ends on Wednesday 20 May.

Food orders (IMPORTANT)

Given the high number of registrations, UPEI is requiring attendees to order and pay for on-campus lunches in advance. Given this, everyone who would prefer to eat lunch on campus during these conferences will need to purchase their lunches online. This includes individuals who are only attending the ACS or CCHA conferences.

If you choose not to purchase lunch in advance, you will not be able to change your mind and purchase food at the UPEI cafeteria during the conference. Alternative off-campus options include Superstore, Burger King, local food trucks, Thai Express, Spicy Chef, Mucho Burrito, and a small cafeteria in the Veterinary College. These are a short walk away. If you are staying in a UPEI residence, you will also have a fridge in your room.

If you would like to purchase lunch ahead of time, there are two options:

  1. Cafeteria Lunch (Buffet): The UPEI cafeteria will serve a variety of foods, buffet style. They will also serve Lone Oak local craft beer, together with other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. You will be purchasing a ticket that gives you access to the buffet-style food options available there. The cafeteria is situated in the centre of the conference buildings. Cost: $16.41 (includes tax and gratuity).
  1. Boxed Lunch: This option may be especially interesting to those who plan to attend business meetings at lunch. All boxed lunches include a sandwich, salad, fresh fruit, cookies, and a bottle of water. Cost: $20.85 (includes tax and gratuity). Boxed lunches are not available on Thursday. There are four choices of sandwich available: 1) Charred Maple Chipotle Tofu Ciabatta, 2) Teriyaki Salmon, Arugula & Fresh Tomatoes Wrap, 3) Balsamic Roasted Market Veggie Wrap, and 4) Chicken, Swiss & Roast Bell Peppers.

For both the Cafeteria and the Boxed Lunches options, UPEI food services caters for vegetarian, vegan, and halal diets, and can accommodate a variety of food allergy concerns.

To add a food order to your existing registration, please log into your Fourwaves account (you will have made one when initially registering for the conference) and edit your registration. You can do this either by clicking “Access my form” in the “Manage your registration” section of your registration confirmation email, or by logging into your Fourwaves account online.
