The Robertson Library was conceived in 1973 by the University of Prince Edward Island’s founders as the first academic building to be constructed as part of the Progress Fund, a “capital program to erect new structures” to meet the needs of the new University that was formed in 1969. As a testament to their commitment, the Library opened its doors in 1975.

Since then, the Robertson Library has been at the heart of our campus for nearly 50 years, supporting student success. Founded with a vision for change, we have continued to evolve with the times, providing outstanding resources, innovative digital spaces, and welcoming environments for all students.

Our Library is more essential than ever, and we have a shared vision for its future to better serve our students and our community members. To bring this idea to life, we are embarking on a fundraising campaign with the goal of raising fifteen million dollars to support the revitalization of our beloved Robertson Library.
