I’m a MSc Epidemiology student working with Dr. Sophie St-Hilaire in the Department of Health Management at the Atlantic Veterinary College, UPEI. Our work focuses on using epidemiological methods to determine control strategies for ulcer disease that affects Atlantic salmon farms in Atlantic Canada.
I gave an oral presentation on “The Epidemiology of Ulcer Disease in Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar) in Atlantic Canada” at the Aquaculture Canada & Sea Farmers 2017 Conference in Halifax, NS, with the support of the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) Early Career Development Award. Thanks to CERC, I was able to network and discuss my results with top researchers and aquatic animal health veterinarians from Canada and around the world. I also attended many informative sessions focusing on aquatic animal health advancements in epidemiology, vaccines, bacteriology, and other areas of interest.
I am very thankful for the opportunity to attend this conference, which would not have been possible without the support of CERC.
