Background:
Education: BVSc&AH (2000), MS in Comparative Epidemiology, Purdue University (2009), PhD Biomedical Sciences (Epidemiology focus), Texas A&M University (2013).
Current Research Project:
Dr. Gautam is currently working on a sea lice project using electronic database from Fish-iTrend, an online database system maintained by the Centre for Aquatic Health Sciences of the University of Prince Edward Island. The aim of the project is to evaluate the effectiveness of different bath treatment types and drug combinations in the control of sea lice in farmed Atlantic salmon along the east coast of Canada. Since the database also contains information about the time when pre-treatment and post-treatment counts of sea lice relative to the date of treatment, a secondary objective of Dr. Gautam’s research project is to determine whether sea lice counts (pre-treatment and post-treatment) vary depending on how far or close in time (days) the counts were done relative to the date of administration of actual treatment.
