Where’s the Observatory?

The Earl L. Wonnacott Observatory is located on the rooftop of Memorial Hall.

In the evening hours, after 5pm, most parking lots are free, with parking lots B and C being the nearest lots. Access to the building is through the main door on the north side (shown in photograph below), facing the university quadrangle.

Memorial Hall room 417 is used as a meeting point and waiting room. It is possible to take the elevator to the 4th floor from the building’s main floor.

Volunteers from local astronomy groups and UPEI Physics will be in room 417 and have general astronomy information and more information about that night’s viewing. There will also be some astronomy-themed activities – models, colouring activities for kids, etc.

To get to the observatory, you take the stairs to the rooftop, and then a few extra stairs into the observatory itself.
