Camp Counselor (Up to 12 positions) – Undergraduate Student – Faculty of Education

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in training and program development sessions
  • Plan and deliver project-based tasks that integrate numeracy and literacy activities in summer camps for children ages 4 to 9 years

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidate will be enrolled in a UPEI undergraduate program
  • Knowledge of play-based and arts-based pedagogies
  • Previous experience and or training with early years and early childhood education
  • Knowledge or early numeracy and early literacy development
  • Previous experience with summer camps
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Understanding of inquiry and project-based learning is considered an asset
  • A Bachelor of Education degree will be considered an asset

A valid driver’s license and transportation are required to travel to different sites for the summer camps. Students will receive a mileage compensation.

Priority will be given to University of Prince Edward Island students in accordance with Recruitment, Selection, Hiring and Employment Policies and the Procedures manual.


Camp Assistant (Up to 5 positions) – Undergraduate Student – Faculty of Education

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in training and program development sessions
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of project-based tasks that integrate numeracy and literacy activities in summer camps for children ages 4 to 9
  • Ensure classroom space is clean and tidy
  • Preparation of snacks and light meals for child participants

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program at UPEI, with preference given to students considering the Bachelor of Education program.
  • Knowledge of early years and early childhood education
  • Previous experience and/or training with early years and early childhood education
  • Knowledge of early numeracy and early literacy development
  • Previous experience with summer camps
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Understanding of project-based learning is considered an asset
