grey sky grey ice
the stillness unheard
over the wind
rifts in ice,
edge of a bare field
along the shore
winter flowers,
the wind
the only sound
ice stained red
from fields
once forests
summer’s light,
in bent beachgrass
beneath the ice
twilight,
two crows alight
on a barren tree top
dusk,
the faraway mist
follows the wind
