Naturally Occuring Compound Function

Plant and microbial secondary metabolites have important ecological and functional properties. Although many of these small molecule metabolites have been shown to effect the phenotype of mammalian cells, the molecular details of their function are not well known. Using new techniques in quantitative proteomics, we are interested in determining interactions between plant or microbial secondary metabolites and mammalian cells to uncover the mechanisms underlying their effects on mammalian cell phenotypes.
