In 1986, Greg Gaudet, a Three Oaks Senior High School graduate, was a first-year student at UPEI. Featuring images of the Robertson Library and UPEI’s campus from that year, this segment of a longer “How About You” UPEI recruitment video shows Greg talking about living in university residence and the role the Robertson Library played in his studies.

Greg Gaudet, PEng

“The memory of the library for myself was always a place of welcoming to see other students from different areas of study and to have a place of solitude and sanctuary to educate yourself.

The library is a great place to expand your knowledge on topics that can be related to your area of study with supplemental knowledge not contained in the course curriculum nor taught by the university professors and associates.”

– Greg Gaudet, in 2024

Gaudet graduated from UPEI in 1989 with a Diploma in Engineering and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical Engineering discipline) from the University of New Brunswick in 1991. He is now Director of Municipal Services at the City of Summerside, PEI.

These interviews were conducted by CBC’s sports writer and sportscaster Scott Russell, whose broadcasting career began in 1985 (the year before this recruitment video was made) as a reporter for CBC Charlottetown.

Also interviewed in this video by Scott Russell are twins Bob and Tom Murphy, Bluefield Senior High School graduates. Both expressed an interest in journalism then and went on to work with the CBC.

In the upcoming months, we will continue to share content that celebrates Robertson Library and the generations of students, faculty, staff, and community members who use our resources and services.

If any of the other interviewees from the 1986 recruitment video would like to get in touch with us, we would be happy to send them a clip of their interview included in this production. Please contact Juanita Rossiter at mjrossiter@upei.ca or 902-894-2802.
