A direct outcome from the Symposium is the “Charlottetown Statement,” a document that conference organizers, speakers, participants, and the general public all had a hand in creating. It serves as a collective aspirational summary and formal record of the event, which will be submitted to the United Nation’s Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (UNFCCC COP 22) meetings in Marrakech in November 2016 and at subsequent climate change meetings.
